Vice-Minister of Energy Anatoly Shkarupa was arrested for two months, the press service of the Astana City Court reports.
"The specialized inter-district investigative court granted the request of the body conducting the investigation to elect a preventive measure in the form of detention for two months against Anatoly Shkarupa. The sanction will last until January 16, 2019," the statement reads.
Earlier, on the sidelines of the government, Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev confirmed the arrest of Vice-Minister of Energy. Also, he said that he had signed the letter of Shkarupa’s dismissal.
