Mikhail  Gorbachev against the new cold war

On Thursday, Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev came to the Russian premiere of a documentary film about himself, created by German film director Werner Herzog and British documentary Andre Singer, reports ria.novosti.

The head of the press service of the Gorbachev Foundation, Pavel Palazhchenko, before the start of the show, at the request of the former Soviet leader, addressed to the filmmakers and the audience.

“Now we see attempts to reverse it all, to cast the world into the past. And the biggest danger is a return to confrontation, the beginning of a new arms race. They are already talking about a nuclear war as if it is something quite permissible, they are preparing for it, discussing scenarios. ”, - said Gorbachev.

The politician stressed that this situation can not be tolerated.

“We should not give up. I believe that the new cold war can be stopped, and I will do everything for it”, - noted the  ex-president.
