900 Kazakhs and 17,774 Russians left Kazakhstan  last year  for the same period. This information was published in the “Social and Economic Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan” issue of the Committee on Statistics of the MNE.

In January-August 2018 compared with January-August 2017, the number of departures from Kazakhstan increased by 13,9%, the number of arrivals in Kazakhstan decreased by 22%. The main migration exchange of the country takes place with the CIS countries. The share of arrivals from the CIS countries and departures to these countries amounted to 77.9% and 90.8%, respectively.

The number of migrants moving within the country decreased by 12,1%. Due to interregional movements, a positive balance of population migration was formed in 3 cities of the country: Astana (10,402 people), Almaty (24,249 people) and Shymkent (43,145 people).
