On October 30, 2018, the fifth round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Romania was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, reports the website of Uzbek government.

The delegation of Romania was led by the State Secretary (Deputy Minister) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Danut Sebastian Neculaescu.

The sides discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral relations and cooperation prospects in “Uzbekistan – EU” format, taking into account the forthcoming Romania’s EU Presidency from January 1, 2019.

The sides called for strengthening and further developing Uzbekistan – Romania dialogue in political, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian spheres, giving a systemic nature to inter-parliamentary relations, establishment and promotion of direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries, including travel companies.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, mutual interest in launching a new mechanism of interaction – Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, regular meetings of which will allow to respond quickly to the situation and resolve emerging issues, expand the range of trade, support investment activity of Uzbekistan and Romania was emphasized at the meeting.

Ambassador of Romania Romeo Stanciu attended the negotiations.
