By the decree of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev the ambassador of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan Yerik Otembayev has been temporarily dismissed, reports Akorda.
On October 16, the Agency for Civil Service Affairs and Anti-Corruption Agency reported that Utembayev was arrested on suspicion of committing large sums of money. According to the agency, Utembayev violated the law during the construction of the Kazakh embassy in Uzbekistan. The cost of this illegal operation is 140 million tenge.
Utembayev was appointed ambassador to Uzbekistan in 2016.
