On October 22, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the delegation of the State of Qatar led by the State Minister for Foreign Affairs Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, who arrived in Uzbekistan on a working visit, reports official website of Uzbek government.
The state and prospects of bilateral relations were discussed at the meeting.
Mutual interest in developing Uzbekistan – Qatar cooperation, primarily in trade-economic and investment spheres was confirmed. Despite the fact that the trade turnover is growing dynamically, its volumes indicate that the sides have significant potential. In this context, the Joint intergovernmental commission on trade-economic cooperation, the first meeting of which is scheduled for the beginning of 2019, will play an important role.
Issues of developing cooperation in cultural-humanitarian, tourism and other fields were discussed in detail.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the sides also exchanged views on current regional and interregional issues, the process of peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan.
On the same day, the second round of Uzbekistan – Qatar political consultations was held.
