18 thousand foreign students will be trained in Kazakhstani universities in 2018, the Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Yerlan Sagadiyev said.
“The ministers of education of the SCO countries will do everything possible to raise joint educational programs, double diplomas, and exchanges between students to a new and qualitative level. We have a large exchange of students between countries every year. This year, 18,000 foreign students are studying in Kazakhstan, many of them from the SCO countries. Our main task is to attract 40 thousand students annually. If we increase the number by 20%, in 5-6 years Kazakhstan will become an educational hub,” E. Sagadiyev at the sidelines of the 7th meeting of SCO ministers of education.
He said that a number of measures are being taken, namely, teaching in English and the preparation of new educational programs.
For example, according to him, following the VII meeting of the ministers of education of the SCO countries, an agreement was reached with the Ministry of Education of India to increase further students from this country to medical universities in Kazakhstan, and also Kazakhstan plans to send them undergraduates, doctoral students and students in IT specialties.
