China has begun to build new buildings of government and parliament in the center of Dushanbe. According to Tajik authorities, Beijing has allocated 1,5 billion yuan for construction.
The construction began on October 13 with the participation of President Emomali Rakhmon and Chinese Premier of State Council Li Keqiang. He came to the capital of Tajikistan to attend the SCO meeting.
According to the press service of the President of Tajikistan, "the initiative of the parliament and government building to be implemented by the Chinese side on the basis of irrelevant support."
The new parliament complex will be replaced by the former Ministry of Agriculture, the Dushanbe administration, the Embassy of Iran and several residential buildings. It occupies 6 hectares.
The building of the Government House will be built on 10 hectares. The complex consists of a 15-storey main building and two 13-storey buildings.
