The International Issyk-Kul Forum “Chingiz Aitmatov and Challenges of Modernity” began its work in Kyrgyzstan. The opening ceremony was held at the Ala-Archa state residence in Bishkek.

The ceremony was attended by President Sooronbay Zheenbekov, ex-President Roza Otunbayeva, scientists, representatives of UNESCO and relatives of Chingiz Aitmatov. The forum is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the writer. General Secretary TURKSOY Duisen Kaseinov, Kazakhstan writers Olzhas Suleimenov, Mukhtar Shakhanov, writers and scientists from the CIS countries, China, Turkey and South Korea arrived to participate in it.

After the opening ceremony, the forum will continue its work on the shores of Issyk-Kul, where they will discuss the topics of Aitmatov's creative work, cultural features of the modern world, as well as environmental and safety issues. Following the results of the forum, it is planned to sign the declaration of the Issyk-Kul forum.
