Kyrgyz investment company Highland Capital created of its $ 15 million private equity fund. The organization aims to attract additional investors to increase the fund to $ 30 million until August 2019, reports Reuters.
The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, is reportedly investing $ 8 million in a new fund to improve access to finance for businesses in the Kyrgyz Republic. Other investors of the fund are Gregory Serouriere and Kyrgyz businessman Emil Umetaliev.
"We are very pleased to attract institutional investors to the country with such a high reputation as IFC. We are also grateful to our investors for their faith in our team and for supporting our foundation," said Cholpon Zhumashukurov, senior partner of Highland Capital.
The organization to provide direct investments in equity and mezzanine financing to local enterprises in the areas of services, agricultural processing, private medicine, education, telecommunications, media and information technology. This will allow them to access more risky forms of financing. The volume of the fund's investments in one project can range from $800,000 to $5 million, the company explained.
