On June 12,  Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on pardoning prisoners on the occasion of the Muslim holiday of Ramadan Feast, reports ca-news.

In total, 226 citizens of the republic have been pardoned, who serve various terms of imprisonment, and have committed a crime by ignorance, but have sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly set out on the path of correction.

According to the document, of the number of pardoned 102 people are released from punishment completely, 71 - conditionally ahead of schedule, for 39 persons the punishment is replaced by a softer one. In addition, the terms of imprisonment for 14 persons are reduced.

Earlier, the amnesty was announced in Uzbekistan on the occasion of Constitution Day (in December) and Independence Day (September).
