On June 14, in Dushanbe, Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon met with the head of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev before the summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the press service of the Tajik head reports.
"During the meeting, the parties spoke in favor of a permanent and stable position of the states and peoples of the two countries in order to continue the development of strategic partnerships, and stressed that they will strive to achieve the goals related to the implementation of the previously reached agreements," the message reads.
During the meeting, issues of development of trade and economic relations, creation of joint production enterprises, increase in the volume of trade, as well as other mutually beneficial for the parties to the areas of cooperation were discussed.
During the consideration of security issues, the focus of the heads of state was on resolving the political problems of Afghanistan, jointly combating threats and challenges, such as terrorism, religious extremism, drug trafficking and other negative phenomena.
In connection with the strengthening of cultural and humanitarian ties, the expediency of holding a “Dushanbe Day in Tashkent” and a “Tashkent Day in Dushanbe” was noted.
