In the West Kazakhstan region saigas are dying, because of hunger, said Kairat Kateshev, local head of the territorial inspection of forest and fauna.
‘’Because of a sharp thaw and law temperature, a thick crust of ice formed in the snow, and young individuals of the saigas could not get food from under the snow. Seven saigas dead in two days''.
''Two hunting farms keep this issue under control. Jaegers control the situation, tried to give hay, but saigas do not fit. Also, places were cut through the paths to the reeds, so that weakened saigas could get to the fodder. Now the individuals are in reeds and eat,'' he explained.
Recall, about 100,000 saigas live in the region.
