On February 15, Turkish and South Korean companies signed a concession agreement to build the Big Almaty Ring Road (BAKAD) project, costs $467.9 million in Kazakhstan, reports Olzhas Raev, the investment advisor at Kazakhstan’s embassy in Seoul.
‘Construction will start this year already. BAKAD is one of the most long-awaited and complex projects. It is expected to significantly improve the environmental situation in Almaty, many-kilometre traffic jams’, he wrote on Facebook pages.
He said the length of the road will be 66 kilometres (41 miles) and will pass through the Karasay, Ile and Talgar districts of southeastern Almaty state.
In addition, 7 intersections and 13 overpasses will be built on the road.
