On December 11, 2017, Kazakhtelecom JSC and AlmaTV Kazakhstan have disabled broadcasting of several Russian TV channels, reports Kazakhtelecom press club.
According to official sites of cable operators, the main reason is the high cost of rights for broadcasting. The companies said that they intend to continue negotiations, but they will try to preserve the previous terms under the contracts.
Since January 2017, many Russian TV channels have slightly raised the cost of licensing rights for broadcasting. The Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company reported that they plan to continue the settlement of this issue, both at the negotiating table and in the legal plane.
Recall, according to Ministry of Investments and Development of Kazakhstan, 158 Russian TV channels broadcast on the territory of Kazakhstan.
