“In March 2019, the President signed a decree on the implementation of the concept of ensuring tourism security. Since that time, the staff of tourist police, consisting of 6 people, worked in test mode in Tashkent. In June, the Tourism Safety Directorate was established at the main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent, which currently employs more than 10 employees,” the press service of the capital’s administration said in a statement.
“By September 2019, Tashkent plans to form a staff of 40 members of the tourist police, equipped with the necessary vehicles and uniforms. The work of the unit will be aimed at maintaining public order at tourist facilities and ensuring the safety of city guests,” the report concludes.
