Kazakhstan attaches great importance to partnership with Kyrgyzstan, said Vice-Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan Aybatyr Zhumagulov.
“Given the considerable potential, we believe that it is necessary to step up work in the political, economic and cultural spheres. According to Kazakhstan statistics, in 2018, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan increased by 10%. We believe that this figure should be higher. Already today, according to our experts, there is a great opportunity for trading in 20 commodity items,” he said.
Zhumagulov noted that there are unequal investments between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
“Since 2005, Kazakhstan has invested 700 million dollars in Kyrgyzstan, and from Kyrgyzstan comes a figure of minus 100 million dollars. This suggests that we need to develop mutual investments. Kazakhstan today occupies 28th place in Doing Business and the first place in protecting minority investments. Therefore, investments that will come on a large scale are protected in every way,” Zhumagulov emphasized.
In addition, the speaker noted that Kazakhstan is interested in digital integration. There is also a separate item on the implementation of the Roadmap, signed between the two countries in 2017.
