On December 12, 2018, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Sweden with a residence in Berlin Nabijon Kasimov presented his credentials to the King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf, in Stockholm, reports the press service of Uzbek government.
During the conversation, King Carl XVI Gustaf recalled with great satisfaction his visit to the cities of Tashkent and Samarkand with his spouse Queen Silvia in 1978. They have the warmest memories of Uzbekistan and deep impressions of the beauty of ancient Samarkand.
The King welcomed the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan and noted the presence of broad potential for development of relations between Uzbekistan and Sweden. In particular, tourism can become promising industry of cooperation taking into account the rich historical and architectural heritage of Uzbekistan, as well as the unique culture and traditions of Uzbekistan people.
After the presentation of credentials, meetings were held with the Director General for Trade of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden Teppo Tauriainen, Deputy Head of Department for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Martina Quick, as well as with representatives of “Business Sweden” Investment and Trade Promotion Agency, Ericsson, Scania, Jambo Tours, TEMA companies and Silc non-governmental organization.
At the meetings, issues of further development and strengthening multifaceted bilateral partnership, including in trade-economic, investment and tourism spheres were discussed.
Special attention was paid to the organization of the visit of the delegation of Swedish companies to Uzbekistan in February 2019.
