The Minister of Foreign Affairs Kairat Abdrakhmanov met with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA), George Tsereteli, and the OSCE PA Special Representative on Central Asia, Roman Haider, reportrs the official website of Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

The leadership of this reputable parliamentary association arrived in Astana on a two-day official visit as part of their Central Asian tour.

At the meeting in the Ministry, the sides discussed issues relating to the state and prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the OSCE, the international agenda, and further strengthening of the inter-parliamentary dialogue.

According to Kairat Abdrakhmanov, parliamentary diplomacy is an effective and reliable instrument of interstate relations and should be used by all participants of the international arena to the fullest in order to achieve common goals. The Kazakh Minister praised the work of the OSCE PA leadership, which makes an important contribution to the resolution of the urgent challenges facing the Organization in all three dimensions of security. At the same time, Kazakhstan emphasized its readiness to continue effective cooperation with the Assembly and the OSCE structures in that direction.

Mr. Tsereteli noted the high dynamics of interaction between Kazakhstan and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. According to the OSCE PA President, Kazakhstan is a responsible and reliable partner who shares the fundamental values of the Organization. The meeting touched upon the impressive socio-economic and foreign policy successes achieved by Kazakhstan during the years of independence. The sides highlighted the process of technological transformation of the country under the wise leadership of President Nursultan Nazarbayev, by which Kazakhstan joins the ranks of developed countries.

As part of the visit of the OSCE PA delegation to Kazakhstan, meetings were also held with Speaker of the Senate, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, and Speaker of the Mazhilis, Nurlan Nigmatulin. Meetings are planned with the Chairman of the Supreme Court, Zhakyp Assanov, the leadership of the Office of the Prosecutor General and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
