Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov signed an agreement on the construction of a nuclear power plant, the Russian government reports.
"The draft agreement provides for cooperation in the design, construction on the territory of Uzbekistan, commissioning and operation of a nuclear power plant consisting of two power units based on a water-water power reactor under a Russian project with an installed capacity of each power unit up to 1.2 GW," the report reads.
D. Medvedev during the meeting noted the importance of this project.
"We are pleased that cooperation in this special, knowledge-based industry is moving to a practical level," he said.
