The current meeting of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev with US President Donald Trump in the White House will determine the key priorities of Kazakhstani-American cooperation in the coming years, said Talgat Zhumagulov, chairman of the Committee of International Information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

‘This is the first visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Washington under the new US administration. Earlier, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Donald Trump talked on the margins of the ‘Islamic World – USA’ summit in Riyadh, and also held telephone talks. The current meeting in the White House will determine the key priorities of Kazakh-American cooperation for the coming years. In Kazakhstan, they hope to bring bilateral relations to a new level of an expanded strategic partnership and to consolidate the long-term nature of its development’, says Talgat Zhumagulov. He also recalled that during a telephone conversation in September last year Nursultan Nazarbayev and Donald Trump agreed to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation. According to MFA of RK, the topic of trade, investment and technology will be in the focus of negotiations between the two leaders, as well as during meetings with representatives of the US business community.

Today, the US is one of Kazakhstan's leading investment partners, having invested almost $ 30 billion in our economy since 2005. In Kazakhstan, there are about 500 companies with US capital participation. In addition, the visit takes place during Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the UN Security Council. The consultations of the leaders of the Security Council members are very important against the background of the uneasy context of international relations. Earlier, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Donald Trump agreed to maintain a dialogue on combating terrorism, strengthening the nuclear non-proliferation regime. The theme of regional security and the situation in Afghanistan is also topical on the agenda of the bilateral dialogue.

Recall, today the Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev arrived in Washington. During the official visit, Nursultan Nazarbayev will meet with US President Donald Trump, as well as representatives of official and business circles of the United States.
