The Ulken village in the Almaty region may become a possible place for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Magzum Mirzagaliyev said.
“We will continue to study this issue. But specifically the issue of the decision on the construction of nuclear power plants has not yet been made. The site was identified in the Almaty region Ulken settlement,” he said.
He added that so far only a site has been defined and will select the appropriate technology.
“This is a question that requires additional study. In any case, given our long-term and long-term cooperation with Russia, then you know we have common projects related to uranium mining. These are all issues that are on the daily agenda,” the deputy minister explained.
Recall, earlier Putin proposed Tokayev to build a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan.
