The trade turnover between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan has increased dramatically over the past four years: from $ 14.9 million in 2015 to $ 281.5 million in 2018. Told journalists the head of the Customs Service under the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Hurshed Karimzoda, reports Asia Plus.
According to him, the export of goods of Tajikistan to the neighboring country in 2015 reached a volume of $ 8.8 million, and in 2018 amounted to $ 155.3 million.
2018 was a breakthrough year in the history of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Trade agreements and agreements worth over $ 300 million were concluded.
During the visit of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon to Tashkent in August 2018, the President of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyeev noted: “There are still many untapped opportunities in our cooperation. Continuing work at this pace, we will soon bring the volume of trade to $ 500 million. In fact, our potential is at least $ 1 billion. ”
According to the head of the Customs Service of Tajikistan, Khurshed Karimzoda, Uzbekistan over the years has become one of the top five trade partners of Tajikistan. The first place is occupied by Russia with an annual turnover of goods in the amount of slightly more than $ 1 billion. Next come Kazakhstan (more than 836 million dollars), China (more than 651 million dollars), Turkey (about 402 million dollars) and Uzbekistan.
