Incomes below the subsistence minimum have, according to data for the third quarter of 2018, 4.6% of the population, however, in 2019, according to the forecast of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the population, 8% of Kazakhstanis will live below the subsistence minimum, KazTAG reports.
“According to the results of the third quarter of 2018, the share of the population with incomes below the subsistence minimum was 4.6%. In connection with the change in the methodology for calculating the subsistence minimum, this indicator in 2019 was predicted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the level of 8%. At the same time, considering the current dynamics, this indicator could potentially be lower than 8%,” says the response of the Committee on Statistics signed by the Vice Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin.
Also, such a forecast associated with the method of calculation means that 8% of Kazakhstanis lived below the subsistence minimum in 2018.
