The proposal to declare the city of Osh the cultural capital of the Turkic world was previously sent by the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of Kyrgyzstan and was put on the agenda of the 36th meeting of the Permanent Council by the TURKSOY, which was held in Kastamonu (Turkey).
Considering that the history of the city of Osh has more than 3000 years, which was celebrated in 2000 with the support of the UN on the world stage, and the Sulayman-Too mountain in Osh is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the ministers of culture of the TURKSOY member states decided The 36th meeting of the Permanent Council to support the proposal of the Kyrgyz side and declare the city of Osh the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2019.
