The Government of Turkmenistan will stop fre distribution of gas, electricity, water and salt to citizens from January 1, 2019 reports Turkem service of Azzatyq.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov has adopted a decree on "Ordering the supply of electricity, gas, drinking water and salt to the people of Turkemistan". According to the document, citizens of Turkmenistan will be provided with electricity, gas, water and salt at reduced affordable prices from Janury 1 of the next year.
"These days everything has changed. We live in a new economic environment nowadays. So, it requires to use of natural resources effectively. Moreover, the income of the population has grown significantly. That is why, discounts will be taken for communal services", told the president.
In addition, it is interesting to note that payment for gas, and drinking water was abolished in 1992 under the first president, Saparmurat Niyazov. Actually, government of Turkmenistan introduced free utility services for 10 years, and then extended it until 2030.
