In Uzbekistan for the first time from October 15 to 19 to be the US Business Week.
The issues of preparation for it were discussed at a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan by Minister Zh. Khodjaev and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs B. McFithers.
Also the sides discussed issues on the resumption of the negotiation process on Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO, prospects for regional economic cooperation in Central Asia. A meeting of the Council of the Framework Agreement on Trade and Investment between the United States and Central Asian Countries (TIFA), the Central Asian Trade Forum and the Uzbek-American Business Forum to hold within the framework of the week.
In particular, the organizers of the Central Asian Trade Forum are USAID and the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.
The Forum focuses on innovation and reform in Central Asia, including e-commerce, rural development and policy reform.
Recall, in 2017, the volume of mutual trade between the United States and Uzbekistan amounted to $ 210.2 million (-54.6%), including exports - $ 27.5 million, imports - $ 182.7 million. The decrease in exports is due to lack of supplies strategic products.
