The five-party agenda of the fifth Caspian Summit, to be held on August 12 in the Kazakh city of Aktau, contains three main items, reports the MFA.

1. Legal status of the Caspian Sea.

2. Cooperation in the Caspian Sea:

• economy and transport;

• environment and protection of bioresources;

• security.

3. Regional and global issues.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will arrive at the Summit at the invitation of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

By the end of the Summit, the sides plan to sign the main outcome document - Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea, which was finalized at the Caspian Foreign Ministers Meeting on December 4-5, 2017, in Moscow.

At the Summit, the governments of the Caspian States are also expected to sign a number of international treaties, such as three agreements on cooperation in the field of transport, on trade and economic cooperation, and in the field of avoiding incidents at Caspian Sea, as well as three protocols to the Agreement on Security Cooperation in the Caspian Sea, dated November 18, 2010, which concern the fight against organized crime, terrorism and interaction of border services of the Caspian States. At the end of the meeting, the Communiqué of the fifth Caspian Summit is to be distributed.

In addition, Aktau will host the Caspian Foreign Ministers Meeting prior to the Summit, on August 11.
