Rural mayors will not be elected by the residents in Kazakhstan. Deputies of the Majilis accepted the senators' remarks and denied the decisions they initially made regarding the elections of rural mayors.

Before in the Majilis it was noted that rural governors should be elected by the residents, and deputies supported this initiative. However, representatives of the upper chamber denied this decision.

So, rural mayors will be elected as before. They will not be elected by the people, but by the deputies of the district Maslihat by voting.
