Religious studies in Kazakhstan identified 3 751 banned materials and sites in 2017, reports the press service of Kazakhstan’s Ministry for Religious Affairs and Civil Society.
‘In 2017, the Committee for Religious Affairs conducted 4,332 religious items (religious literature, other materials ), of which 196 objects received a negative opinion’, the statement explained.
It is noted that the main task of religious studies is to study the object of expertise to identify contradictions in the norms of the Constitution of Kazakhstan, also violations of the rights and freedoms of citizens.
‘The objects of religious studies include constituent and other documents of religious content, spiritual educational programs, information materials of religious content and religious items’, the press service explains.
At the same time, the distribution of religious literature, other information materials of religious content, religious objects allowed only in religious structures, religious educational organizations. There are 257 special places around the country for trade in religious materials and items.
In 2017, the Ministry for Religious Affairs and Civil Society analysed the contents of 10,174 Internet resources, of which 3,555 Internet resources containing illegal materials were identified.
