According to the International Olympic Committee, Russian athletes have recommended to the IOC special committee to use the Soviet Union flag for participating in the Winter Olympics in South Korea. This information was reported on the Shinlan Information website.
On December 5, 2017, the IOC decided to exclude paticipation of whole Russia's athletes at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyongchang. However, it was stated that those sportsmen who did not use doping can be taken part individually or collectively. Moreover, IOC forbade to use the flag of Russia and the anthem. In this regard, consumers of social networks in Russia are more actively supporting the flag of the Soviet Union and the anthem for participation in the Winter Olympics in Pyongchang. Even this proposal was proposed to the IOC.
According to the information provided by the International Olympic Committee, the Russian Special Athletics Working Group told that they will make a decision after a comprehensive study of these recommendations.
