Early presidential elections will be held on June 9.
Today the head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressed a message to the people of Kazakhstan. He said that the early presidential elections will be held on June 9, 2019.
The last time the extraordinary presidential election was held on April 26, 2015. At that time, President Nursultan Nazarbayev gained 97,7 percent of the vote. His presidential term should have ended in 2020. However, on March 19, Nazarbayev announced early termination of his presidency, replacing the constitutional parliament speaker Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has been acting President of Kazakhstan since March 20.
