On October 9, 2017, in Bishkek, the Council of the European Union Federica Mogherini held a meeting with President-elect Sooronbai Jeenbekov, outgoing President Almazbek Atambayev and Prime Minister Sapar Isakov.
During the meeting, the President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev awarded her the Order of Friendship of the Kyrgyz Republic. At the meeting, a new bilateral agreement between the EU and Kyrgyzstan were signed. The new agreement contributes to the strength democracy of Kyrgyz Republic and economic sustainability.
Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini said that 'the European Union's continued support to the reform processes in the Kyrgyz Republic in this area of electoral reform, as well as in the rule of law and the reform of the judiciary', and highlighted that 'the recommendations of the OSCE/ODIHR election observation mission should be implemented by the Kyrgyz authorities', reports EU press.
Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov commented that 'It is necessary to raise the level of bilateral trade between Kyrgyzstan and the countries of the European Union'.
