Ex-Prosecutor General of Kyrgyzstan Aida Salyanova was detained on June 3 for 48 hours, says Akipress news agency.

She was detained as part of the probe into illegal freeing of crime boss Aziz Batukayev from prison over fake leukemia diagnosis.

On June 3 midnight, Salyanova's former colleagues from the Parliament and other supporters showed up near the building of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate. Members of the Parliament from the Ata Meken faction Almambet Shykmamatov and Natalia Nikitenko entered the police department to visit Salyanova.

Ex-special prosecutor, 2 doctors, Ex-Health Minister of Kyrgyzstan Dinara Saginbayeva, and ex-advisor to the Chairman of the State Penitentiary Service were arrested within the probe. 1 more doctor was imposed travel ban.

Batukayev was sentenced to 16.8 years in prison on August 3, 2006.  He was prematurely released from prison in 2013 because of the leukemia diagnosis, which turned out to be fake. Soon after he fled the country, he was declared internationally wanted.
