We need cotton to increase people's incomes - Uzbek President

Our country needs cotton not to fulfil the plan, but to create jobs, increase the incomes of the population and its standard of living, said President of Uzbekistan during a video-conference meeting.

"We do not need a farmer who as before pursues a plan, does not think about income and works without a definite calculation," he stressed.

It was noted that in connection with weather conditions - lack of rain and cool - the development of cotton in Uzbekistan lags 10-15, in some places - for 20-25 days. Instructions were given to eliminate the backlog in the development of cotton and the accumulation of a guaranteed crop.

"This year the state created conditions that did not exist in previous years, and accordingly farmers should give a positive response," the President said.
