At the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, sport players of Kazakhstan will defend the dignity of Central Asia.
February 9 in PyeonChang, South Korea, will begin the XXIII Winter Olympic Games. 2,900 athletes from 90 countries will compete for 102 medals. At the current world championship, the honor of the Central Asian countries is defended by athletes of Kazakhstan. Because only 61 athletes from five countries of the region will take part in the "PyeonChang - 2018". 57 of them are sportsmen from Kazakhstan, and the remaining four are athletes from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The main hope of Kazakhstan at the Olympic Games is the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in Sochi Denis Ten, a biathlete at a distance of 15 kilometers at the World Championships Alexey Poltoranin, freestyles Dmitri Reihard and Yulia Galysheva and silver medalist of the short track World Cup Abzal Azhgaliyev. It is expected that Abzal Azhgaliyev will carry the flag of Kazakhstan in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
