One of the main streets of Almaty, Furmanov Street has been renamed into the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev, the decision were accepted during the session of the Almaty city Maslikhat's VI convocation, with the onomastic city commission and the Republican terminological and onomastic commissions under the Government of Kazakhstan.
'After the proposal to rename 112 repeating streets was submitted to the onomastic commission, we received a large number of appeals from representatives of the government, NGOs, citizens of Almaty and especially young people. They suggested to rename one of the main streets of Almaty, Furmanov Street into the name of Elbasy, the founder of independent Kazakhstan, said Mayor of Almaty Bauyrzhan Baibek.
Recall, tomorrow, December 1, the population of Kazakhstan celebrates the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Nursultan Nazarbayev.
December 10, 2011, at the plenary session of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan a law “On amendments to the Law” was adopted the holiday. It was established to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of the first President of Kazakhstan.
