The meeting of the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, which was held in Termez (Uzbekistan), an agreement was reached on the adoption of further agreed measures to ensure the growth of commodity turnover.
The parties also agreed to conduct work on the creation of joint ventures for the production of goods of light industry and in the agro-industrial complex, as well as to continue and deepen joint work in the hydropower sector.
Recall that in August last year during the visit of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to Tashkent, the parties announced agreements on the construction of two hydroelectric power stations.
Following the visit, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that the sides are ready to announce the joint construction of two hydropower plants with a total capacity of 320 MW in Tajikistan on the Zarafshan River, also studying the use of fresh water of Sarez Lake in the framework of the intergovernmental commission.
