The annual steel production in Iran has grown to 35 million tons per year, and for five the total volume was 200 million tons, said the deputy minister of industry, mines and trade of Iran Jafar Sargini.

Over 5 years the steel production capacity in Iran increased by 80 million tons.

"To date, the country is capable of producing more than 35 million tons of crude steel and in the future until 2025, and production is expected to increase to 55 million tons," explained J. Sargini.

Nowadays, Iran ranks first in the production of steel in the Middle East, and 14th in the world. In case of increasing the production of crude steel to 55 million tons per year, the country can rise by 7 points, from 14th to 7th place, IRNA notes.
