On May 29, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to reduce the import of various products at the video-conference meeting , the press service reported.

This is due to the large difference between exports and imports of goods to Uzbekistan.

According to the President, the results for the first months of 2018 are much lower than possible. Heads of some industries and regions do not fully feel their responsibility in these matters, and the reserves to increase export volumes are not fully utilized, the president believes.

In addition, Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to increase exports in the first half of the year by 25%. It should amount to 5.8 billion dollars, forecasted performance should be more than 100%.

Recall, the total volume of imports to Uzbekistan in 2018 was about 4.8 billion dollars, it grew by only 30% compared to the same period last year.
