Uzbek automaker GM Uzbekistan is considering a variant of production of a cheaper modification of Spark as an alternative to Matiz, release in July the year, Sputnik reports.
"We are now considering the production of a Spark car with a reduced cost, again, everything to depend on the economic component of this issue, how profitable it will be, therefore we are also working in this direction," said Umidjan Salimov, the head of Uzavtosanoat.
He also explained that Spark itself is a car of a higher technological level. It uses a large amount of high-strength steel. In turn Matiz, which was developed back in the 90s of the last century, is already morally and technically obsolete. In addition, the decision to remove it from production is due to the "strategy for updating the model range."
Recall, Uzbek automaker GM Uzbekistan in July 2018 completes the production of Matiz cars at its facilities.
