During the meeting, Nursultan Nazarbayev once again congratulated Vladimir Putin on winning the election of the President of the Russian Federation and wished him success in his responsible post, reports the Akorda press service.
"On the eighteenth of March this year, a historic event took place. You have won the confidence of the Russian people with tremendous triumph. In these difficult conditions, such trust is worth very much," the President of Kazakhstan noted.
Nursultan Nazarbayev pointed out the friendly and close nature of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, investment and other important spheres and directions.
"Kazakhstan is the closest country with which Russia has the most exemplary relations and intensive economic ties. Our commodity turnover is about $16 billion. The creation of joint ventures is on the increase," the Head of State said.
In addition, the President of Kazakhstan noted that a high level of cooperation between the two countries contributes to the effective resolution of emerging issues in Kazakh-Russian relations.
"Kazakhstan is always near. We will always work together and overcome this difficult time, moving forward. Today the general work is in progress in all directions. There are always questions between neighboring independent states. We have developed close relations between governments and ministries. The arising problems should be solved calmly, without causing any agiotage. We are allies, and the media of the two countries should work in the same way," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
Putin stressed that for today, effective relations have been established between the two countries in various spheres and pointed out the positive dynamics of their development.
The President of Russia noted that Kazakhstan is not only a strategic ally, but also one of Russia's closest economic partners.
"Relations between our countries are developing successfully and consistently. Last year, we had a good economic result – plus 30% growth in commodity turnover. Russia remains one of the leading trade and economic partners of Kazakhstan. I would also like to note the growth of Russia's direct investment in the Kazakh economy," V. Putin said.
