Due to planned shutdown of production and injection of gas into the reservoir at some wells in Kashagan, production dropped to 200-215 thousand barrels of oil per day, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports.
The extraction to return to the previously achieved volume of 300 thousand barrels per day in the second half of April, said Deputy Energy Minister Magzum Mirzagaliyev on the sidelines of the Government.
"We do not have any problems on Kashagan, we really stopped a number of wells on the island D and stopped the injection of gas into the reservoir." The increase in production at Kashagan depends on the injection of gas into the reservoir''.
"Recently, we have noticed positive changes and a good trend, but in order to technically now clearly understand what is happening in the reservoir, we stopped six wells from mid-March to mid-April," the vice-minister explained.
According to him, these are planned, not repair works. The injection of associated gas into the reservoir in the fall of this year will allow achieving a target production level of 370,000 barrels per day.
Recall, oil production at Kashagan in 2018 was projected at 10.8 million tons. In 2017, Kashagan produced 8.35 million tons of oil.
