Kazakhstani lawyer and human rights activist Ayman Umarova awarded  at the International Women of Courage Award for the year 2018 for women from different countries who showed special courage by the US State Department, reports sputniknews.kz

The awards will present to ten women from around the world on March 23 by US Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan.

The Award is presented to women from all over the world who have demonstrated exceptional courage and leadership in promoting peace, justice, human rights, gender equality and women's empowerment, often at great personal risk and sacrifice.

Since 2007 the State Department awarded more than 120 women from more than 65 different countries.
