The chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations, Defense and Security of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Dariga Nazarbayeva, explained to journalists why she read the deputy's request addressed to the head of the National Bank Daniyar Akishev in Russian.
"Nobody cancelled the Russian language, and I made a request in the language I was comfortable. We all try to fulfil the president's instruction. I believe that you cannot overdo these issues. No one has cancelled interethnic harmony and friendship," said Dariga Nazarbayeva on the sidelines of the Senate's plenary session, "the languages that work on the territory of our country, including those operating in government agencies, are now approved in the country's Constitution."
Dariga Nazarbayeva's request, which she read in Russian, concerned the reset of the financial sector. Nursultan Nazarbayev, the head of state, earlier set such a task.
Recall, on 26 February 2018, Kazakh President said that 'the activities of the Parliament and the Government should be carried out only in the state language'.
