The Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan upheld the district court's decision issued to journalist Kabai Karabekov on the complaint of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov. Now Karabekov should pay five million soms (73.5 thousand dollars) to the head of state. This was reported by the Central Asian News Service.
Commenting on the court's decision, a journalist said that "the court did not identify exactly which of the brothers Jeenbekov was mentioned in the article".
"The article does not say that he is president. This issue remains open to all instances. They required from people living on a monthly basis to pay a large amount of money", - said Karabekov.
Recall, on the eve of the presidential elections in autumn 2017, Kyrgyzstan's current president, Sooronbay Jeenbekov, transferred to court Kabai Karabekov, who published an article on the website "24.kg" on September 11, 2017, "Visit to Sochi. The Kremlin will once again be explained why the successor is good?". On October 5, the Sverdlov district court in Bishkek charged Kabai Karabekov and the website "24.kg". As a result, court obligated Kabai Karabekov and the website "24.kg" to pay compensation for moral damage to Sooronbay Jeenbekov in the amount of five million soms to each.
