The opening of a new international sea port in the Caspian littoral of Turkmenbashi is scheduled for May 2, reports trend.az.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan, located at an important crossroads of regional and continental transport routes, is striving to realize the potential for the common good in this sphere, making a significant contribution to the formation of a modern multimodal transit-transport and logistics infrastructure, to the revival of the Great Silk ways.
Earlier, it was reported that the seaside complex to include a general loading terminal, a bulk cargo terminal, as well as a shipbuilding and ship repair yard. The total area of the multifunctional port will be more than 1 million 400 thousand sq. meters.
Since 2014, numerous coastal infrastructure facilities have been built, which includes transport support: roads with trestle crossings with a total length of 3 thousand 915 meters and railways with a total length of 29 thousand 890 meters.
The project, estimated value of 1.5 billion dollars, is implemented by the Turkish company Gap Inşaat.
