The prosecutor's office of Uzbekistan has filed 25 criminal cases against workers in the energy industry. According to preliminary estimates, the damage they caused is 1.9 billion soums ($ 209,500), reports Fergana agency.

Of this amount, 116.3 million soums ($ 12,820 or 6.1%) were returned to the account of the regional electric networks joint-stock company. Three employees of enterprises were sentenced to imprisonment, two to correctional labor, and one was fined.

Criminal proceedings were instituted under the articles "theft", "fraud", "violation of the rules for the use of electric, thermal energy, gas, water supply", "abuse of authority", "forgery" and others. A case was opened against two employees of the Zirabulak gas trunk pipeline department, the damage of which is estimated at 21.1 million soums.
