On July 8, ex-president of Kyrgyzstan Almazbk Atambayev was summoned for interrogation to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to the press service of the Ministry, he was invited as a witness.

The police interrogation was brought to the house of ex president in the village of Koi-Tash. The documents states that he is invited for questioning by Investigation Service of the Ministry of  Internal Affairs, which is scheduled for 9 am of July 9th.

However, the former head of state told reporters that he did not intend to go in for questioning, explaining that he did not trust the current government, which is doing lawlessness. He offered to forward the questions to his legal representative Sergey Slesarev.

At the beginning of 2019, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic began to investigate a resumed criminal case on the illegal release of criminal authority Aziz Batukayev.

In addition, it should be noted that on June 27, the Jogorku Kenesh (Supreme Council) deprived Almazbek Atambayev of his ex-president status and immunity.
