International communication and transport-logistics center will be opened on the Kazakh-Uzbek border.

At the intergovernmental meeting on March 14 it was known that Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will open international communication, transport and logistics centers and land ports in border areas. According to the official website of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, freight traffic between the two countries last year increased by 8%, and made up 20,5 million tons. And over the last two months of 2018, freight traffic has increased by 44 percent comparing to the previous years.

Recall, today the president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will arrive in Astana an on official visit. During the visit Mirziyoyev will meet with President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to discuss the relations between the two countries, regional and international issues. In addition, he is expected to take part in the summit of heads of Central Asian countries in Astana.
